I had a long, drawn-out discussion the other day with a right-wing acquaintance who simply refused to accept basic facts. Instead, he kept repeating (louder and louder) Fox News and Rush Limbaugh talking points that had no connection to reality. At a certain point, I had to say goodnight and leave him with this thought:
